Educational Programs for Mental Health Professionals
Today's psychotherapist faces major challenges. There is increasing pressure to provide effective short-term psychotherapy but many therapists were trained only in long-term treatments. At the same time, new clinical problems are emerging, such as eating disorders and post-traumatic stress disorder, and new advances are being made in the treatment of previously refractory problems such as depression and obsessive-compulsive disorder. With the rapid changes that have been occurring, it is difficult for the practicing clinician to keep up with new developments. The Cleveland Center for Cognitive Therapy offers a variety of Continuing Education programs designed to meet the needs of today's practitioner. These range from brief workshops and seminars to a ten month intensive training program in Cognitive Therapy
Intensive Training Program Distance Education starts March, 2014 Face-to-Face Section starts October, 2014
The Clinical Practice of Cognitive Therapy is an intensive training program designed to meet the needs of practicing professionals in Psychiatry, Psychology, Social Work and Counseling. It consists of a sequence of four seminars, totaling 69.5 contact hours, which are offered over a period of ten months. The seminars cover both the basic principles of Cognitive Therapy and the application of these principles in complex clinical situations. They combine didactic presentations, demonstrations, practice in the use of Cognitive techniques, and consultation regarding the application of Cognitive Therapy in clinical practice. Successful completion of this program satisfies the didactic requirements for certification by the Academy of Cognitive Therapy.
The Distance Education program begins March 12, 2014.
For more information, download the brochure and registration form for the Distance Education program starting March 12, 2014 or contact James Pretzer, Ph.D. (firstname.lastname@example.org).
The face-to-face version of the program will meet in Cleveland, Ohio beginning in October, 2014. The brochure and registration form for the face-to-face program will be available from this page in May, 2014

Topics have included principles of short-term counseling, Cognitive Therapy of depression, outpatient treatment of substance abuse, and dealing with borderline personality disorder. Groups for whom we have provided in-service training have included community mental health centers, hospital psychiatry departments, alcohol treatment programs, and private practices. Consultation in Cognitive Therapy
We offer both individual and group consultation to mental health professionals. Consultation can be scheduled a single session at a time or can be scheduled on a weekly or monthly basis. Consultation sessions can be general case consultation or can focus on specific topics or issues that are of interest to you. We also offer consultation in the form of a "second opinion" in which we conduct an evaluation and provide treatment recommendations for a client for whom you will continue to provide treatment. For more information contact James Pretzer, Ph.D. (email@example.com).

The Center for Cognitive Therapy can come to you!
Having the Cleveland Center for Cognitive Therapy present a training program at your location may be more affordable than you expect. If your group, agency, or organization has 20 professionals interested in attending the program, it may well be less expensive to have us come to you than to have each person travel to continuing education programs separately.
If you are interested in sponsoring a workshop which is open to members of the mental health community, the registration fees you receive may well cover the cost of the workshop as well as providing your organization with valuable publicity. We will be happy to provide advice on organizing and publicizing workshops for mental health professionals. For more information contact James Pretzer, Ph.D. ( email@example.com ).
